Res Nullius refers to the “remnants” of the territory, those spaces or resources that belong to no one and that peasant cooperatives have claimed over the centuries in mountainous regions (Valais, Switzerland) to meet their needs for water, wood, or grazing land. Res Nullius is composed of four stone offcuts left after the quarrying of a column, a classical architectural element. These offcuts are typically crushed and discarded. Here, suspended in space by a multitude of fragile threads, they seem to suggest a new potential use.
