Standing Rocks consiste en trois présences monumentales qui conjuguent pierre locale, terre pisée et miroirs. Ces blocs, issus d’une carrière proche, se dressent à la fois solides et vulnérables face à la plaine. Les miroirs fragmentent le paysage tout comme ils cherchent à perturber notre vision de l’ensemble, brouillant les frontières entre sculpture et site. En mêlant mémoire géologique, savoir-faire vernaculaire et expérience sensible, l’installation explore la manière dont une communauté se construit à partir d’un territoire donné, et comment matière, histoire et culture se réfléchissent mutuellement.
Standing Rocks consists of three monumental presences combining local stone, rammed earth, and mirrors. These blocks, sourced from a nearby quarry, rise both solid and vulnerable against the plain. The mirrors fragment the landscape while also challenging our perception of the whole, blurring the boundaries between sculpture and site. By weaving together geological memory, vernacular craftsmanship, and sensory experience, the installation explores how a community is shaped by a given territory, and how matter, history, and culture reflect one another.
